What is the difference between servo control and stepper control of wire cutting

There are two control methods for the more common wire cutting machine tools on the market, one is servo control and the other is stepping control. What is the difference between these two control methods? Today we will introduce to you the differences between the two control methods of wire cutting.

1. Different low frequency characteristics

The motor of step wire cutting is prone to low frequency vibration at low speed, while the servo wire feeder machine runs very smoothly without vibration. This is because the stepper motor uses damping technology to overcome low-frequency vibration, while the AC servo system has a resonance suppression function, and the system has a frequency analysis function (FFT), which can detect the mechanical resonance point and facilitate system adjustment.

2. Different moment-frequency characteristics

The output torque of the wire-feeding motor in the stepper decreases with the increase of the speed, while the motor of the wire-feeding wire cutting in the servo is a constant torque output. At the same time, the stepping wire cutting machine will drop sharply at a higher speed, and its maximum working speed is 300-600RPM, while the speed of the wire in the servo is within 2000 or 3000RPM.
